Violist, Orchestral Player, Chamber Musician
Eunbit Elen Ko was born in Seoul, South Korea. Since 2021 she began her Kozertexamen studies with Prof. Andra Darzins at the HMDK State University for Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart. Previously, she graduated her master’s degree at University of Music and Theater in Munich with Prof. Hariolf Schlichtig and her bachelor’s degree at Ewha Womans University in Korea with Prof. Kisun Sung.
She won the 1st prize of “OPUS 2021” competition in Poland and also the 1st prize at Jugendmusiziert The Music Competition, 1st prize International Youth Musician Exchange Competition. She won the International Competition in Brescia, Italy, after which she performed as a soloist with the Master Orchestra. Eunbit Ko received musical inspiration from master classes with renowned violists such as Hariolf Schlichtig, Thomas Riebl, Tatjana Masurenko, Atar Arad, Barbara Westphal, Máté Szűcs, Lawrence Power and Garth Knox.
As an enthusiastic chamber musician, Ms. Ko has played with Hariolf Schlichtig, Nils Mönkemeyer and Leonel Morales and appears in many venues around Germany.
She took chamber music lessons from Raphaël Merlin (Quatuor Ébène), Kyung-Wha Chung (Chung Trio) and Mario Blaumer (Linos Ensemble). She was also attending the International Academy “Korea-Japan Musical Exchange” in Okayama, Japan.
Elen is a dedicated orchestral musician and appears as a regular Aushilfe for Münchner Symphoniker and Philharmonisches Orchester Freiburg and she played in the National Center for the Performing Arts in China. Since 2019, she has been a member of Jungen Deutschen Philharmonie. She have worked as a Principal Violist of Neue Philharmonie Berlin and also worked at Münchner Symphoniker on a temporary contract.
Since 2022 she has been a scholarship holder at Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now. And also a scholarship holder State Collection of String Instruments Foundation in Baden-Württemberg which gave a her a grant for “Michele Deconetti, Venice 1720” Viola.
